Sagem MYX-7: What's it do?

I have just received two Sagem MYX-7 phones from Woolies. Thanks to all who posted this bargain.

To be honest, I am not a phone geek, and I am not sure what these phones do. Could any kind soul tell me please? ;D

The phone does not have a great feel to it - kind of plasticky. Well, I know they are all plasticky, but this is not terribly nice plastic - a bit flimsy feeling. Does it work better than it looks and feels? ;D

I've seen these phones described as tri-band. Is that right, and above all is that a 'Good Thing'? Does it really take pictures? Can you transfer them to your PC? ??? ??? ???

I do appreciate that this post is a bit off topic, but I am wondering whether I was wise to buy something I don't need and don't understand just because it was a bargain.

Suddenly, loads of them on ebay, I see. Somebody said that woolies sold 8500 of them, well it looks like there are quite a few hundred on ebay already.

Just got mine and yeah I agree it is so plasicky (sp?) it is unbelievable. Really poorly made.

Its not a bad phone tho -take pics and u can make video and yes, u can xfer to pc via cable or email system.

To be honest, for the price u paid, its a bargain and yeah, they are all on ebay but they are selling for a lot more that we paid!

Also, we did get a cd player too!

Yes it definatly works better than it looks and feels i have an myx-7 mobile and really like it.

Yes it does take pictures and quite good ones considering its size ;D

I have a Virgin SIM at the moment. I take it that can't be transferred without a lot of messing around with unlocking?

GDB, just insert your Virgin sim in the phone and see if it works.
If it came with an O2 payg sim then you should be ok as O2 generally cant be bothered to lock their phones, so they work with any sim card.

Does anyone know if the light can be made to stay on any longer with this sagem phone? mine keeps going off every few seconds, and i cant find any option of giving me longer with the light on (you try and read a phone number stored on the phone, look at a picture, read a message and the light goes off)

Very weird, maybe im missing the obvious but i cant find any option to change it.

they sent mine seperately too, the cardboard box should say 1 of 2 somewhere on it

Plasticky is what happens when you jump in and join the bandwagon..

I'd only stick to nokia, siemens, motorola or sony-ericsson. Built to last. Sagem is relatively unknown.
