LCD or Plasma?

Hi all,

Hope everyone enjoys their Christmas day today.

I am looking for abit of help. I had a vision problem and am I am going to get get a newer and bigger telly for myself in the new year. I already have a 32" samsung LCD that's HD ready but I was looking to buy a 50" one.
Now I have asked in the shops what is best for me LCD or plasma and stated about my sight problems, I will only be using ti for watching normally telly like soaps. I don't watch action movies, sports, play computers or anything on a telly. I do ready the teletext though.

So what is the best LCD or Plasma telly???

Any comments or suggestions would be a great help!!!

Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid there is no "best" and the only one who can really answer the question is you. They each have their advantages and disadvantages but as far as purely the "viewability" that's down to personal preference and the only sensible answer is that you try them out in the various high street shops and decide for yourself which you prefer and seems "better". The display is different between the 2 technologies but people actually have their own preferences over what they like with those differences.

I agree with superscaper; whether a TV is plasma or LCD is pretty irrelevant. Buy the one you think looks best regardless of what sort of display it is.

    I too agree with superscaper,

if like to know, my personal experiance is that the biger the tv is, Plasma looks better then LCD (unless i use a computer) and i recommend going to your local Richer Sounds shop to see the difference and they have a price match guarrantee so you cant go wrong when buying what you see, but be sure to check the internet prices first as you will have to quote them in store.

For 50" you really need to be looking at a Plasma (Panasonic, or Pioneer if you can afford it)
If you do go for an LCD then the only one id suggest is a Sony.

Seconded. Plasma gives the best image quality on standard definition.
