Argos returning gifts?

My daughter wants to return a toy, we don't have the receipt. Will they just give a gift card or do I need receipt?

If you don't have your receipt, as long as you have a proof of purchase* we'll exchange the item or give you a refund with vouchers.

Take it in on Boxing Day and you shouldn't need a receipt - most branches just process refunds at the current selling price onto a gift card :)

Can anyone tell me what will happen in this case please, i bought my wife an mp3/4 player for £60 last week its now priced at £118 she doesnt want it but ive not got the receipt, what will happen if i return it today, it does come under the non refundable items list, but she wants something else anyway, or will they offer me gift tokens, thanx in advance.

I got my dad a freeview box for xmas from Argos which is also on there non refundable list so i asked when i bought it what would happen if it was unwanted or my dad didn't like it and the supervisor in my local Argos basically said it would be tuff luck!! The only way you can return it is if it is faulty/damaged/not fit for purpose etc, there is no way under any circumstances they take it back if it is unwanted even if it is/was a xmas present!
So dickieg unless it is faulty it looks like your wife may be stuck with it!! I'm not sure how the selling price issue would work because if you have no receipt neither you or the shop can prove what you originally paid for it!! When did the selling price change back to the higher price? If it is faulty you may be lucky and get the higher value on a gift card!;)

    Cheers
