Broken TV aerial cable!

I have got myself a new Freeview Tv for my kitchen, and there is an aerial socket in the wall. I tried to tune the TV in, however it wouldn't pick any channels up! I went outside and looked at the aerial cable and it appears that someone (the someone being one of my children!) has at some point cut through the cable! I can see the copper wires inside both ends! Is there anything I can do to join these two ends together again so that I can receive a signal or do I need to get someone out after Christmas to look at it?

Many Thanks!

You can repair it yourself using two TV aerial plugs and a connector. These are readily available at Wilkinsons, etc. for a few pence each. As it's outside you might want to wrap the connection with insulationg tape or something similar to keep out the damp.
  • Excellent! Ill be off to B&Q on boxing day to get that sorted! Thanks!!

To make a proper repair, you would be better off using satellite cable " f " connectors and a back to back connector, these should be fully covered with self amalgamating tape to stop any water ingress.

This will make a strong and long lasting repair.
