My son was bought a remote control car which unfortunately did not work properly. On Monday we went to our local M & S but they did not have any stock left and the assistant checked other local stores and online but unfortunately there were none left.
She then told me that she had one at home she had bought for a present but that my son could have it if he wanted and she would get something else! I was very reluctant to do this as she had obviously bought it for a particular person and would have to get something else. She insisted that it wasn't a problem and asked if we were coming to town the following day. We were - in the morning. She wasn't working until the afternoon but said she would try and get a relation to bring it in the morning. I told her there was no need to do this - it was enough she was returning the car - and my son would be happy to have it in a few days if the store would hold it for him or we would alter our arrangements and come to the store in the afternoon. We thanked her several times over.
Tuesday morning I received a phone call from the store to say they had the remote control car for us!!
This very kind lady really did go beyond the call of duty. I left a thank you note for her when we collected the car (as it was in the norming and she wasn't at work) and I am also going to write in to management singing her praises.

Sounds a great person.
You might get a cynic thinking maybe it was her second duff one returned and she thought this is a rubbish gift, I better not give it as a present, better offload mine and you might as well have it.0 -

But then you will always get a negative person to try and spoil a positive story. If both parties are happy, then there is no problem:j
