Home Insurance - Legal Cover

Just looking at home insurance quotes and it's cheaper to buy buildings and contents separately from different proviers, but I'm a little unsure about the legal expenses add-on which we always take out.
It's possible to add it to Contents, and to Buildings, but isn't that equivalent to having duplicate policies if we go for different providers?
Would it matter if we got the legal insurance with the contents policy only, or is it possible to get a standalone legal expenses policy anywhere?
Any help appreciated

You might like to look at this one.

No connection, do your own research etc.0 -
Thanks for that, I'm looking into it now but can't find any mention of FSA regulation (and therefore FSCS cover).
I'll search the FSA register later as it's unavailable at the moment:
http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/
Back to this company, their site is odd, look what the payment screen says:Your card will be debited for a total of £7.99. You will receive your FREE legal protection policy within the next 4-7 working days.
Simple, you pay £7.99 and in return they give you a free legal protection policy... costing £7.99

They don't appear on the FSA register and make no mention of it on their website so think it's best to stay away from them!0

Hi
Seperate quotes are good providing the buildings comes out cheap.
Look at trying to get some cashback from www.topcashback.co.uk or
www.cashbackkings.com
Alot more is explained on here.
The legal cover you select to run alongside one of the policies.
I usually pay about £15+ for around £50k.Some will be only £25k
Check at what it covers.0 -
I was just coming on here to ask the same question as the op re legal expenses.
I too can get cheaper contents and buildings cover (offering the same benefits) individually as buying them together and get two lots of cashback. Plus I am doubling my chances of cashback if one company doesn't pay up. Anyway, my question was the same as Crabman's so have I understood correctly that I need only purchase it with one set of cover (buildings or contents) and am gaining nothing by buying cover twice?
Sorry if I am having you repeat yourselves but I haven't been able to find the answer elsewhere.
Thank you in advance

Why don't you lok at the policy and then decide whether you need both?
If both are identical then you don't need both.
It's very difficult for nayone to answer without a summary of the policy cover.
I suspect they are the same, but I couldn't say without seeing them, so really I think the answer is to spend a few minutes reading what they cover, then you should be able to work out if they are duplicates.0 -
I ended up buying the legal policy from Liverpool Victoria with the contents insurance, as it's the same policy irrespective of whether it's bought with buildings, contents, or both.
Stay away from the company in posts 2-4 above, as they are not FSA regulated.0 -
