  • How about Priceline? A couple of people have posted winning bids of $50 (£28) per night on the BiddingForTravel site, winning the 4* Crowne Plaza. With taxes and fees added this came to $67 (£38). Might be worth a punt.

  • I live near Heathrow and the Holiday Inn one looks like it would be your cheapest option.

I do know of 2 Guest house near to Heathrow though, PM if you'd like the numbers. I dont know how much they are though.

    Regarding Priceline bidding.

If you look at Betterbidding they have a MAPS section which shows you where the most likely hotels are and also the latest winning bids (from their board).

Looks like you could get the 3* Holiday Inn Ariel for $33 + taxes if you're lucky.

You can ask the board for a strategy of what to bid.

have just booked through priceline.co.uk for heathrow ariel holiday inn 3 star, for a bid of £18 (£25.19) with taxes.

this could have been even cheaper im sure, but i was a bit hasty with the bidding!

i am really chuffed tho as it is half the amount i was going to pay!

may not be the best hotel around, but am only staying there for a few hours.....(by the way, does anyone know if parking is extra?)

really recommend priceline.had never heard of this kind of 'name your own price' site before. am now bidding on pre flight heathrow room over easter too.

thanks all for your great advice

Can you now put your successful bid on betterbidding? This helps others to get a good price and keeps the web-site going.

    Thanks

Well done Aliyah. We've stayed there a few times and found it perfectly adequate. Parking is £5 per 24 hours.

Your next challenge will be to get them to put you in an executive room!!!

If noise disturbs you, ask for a room at the back. The front faces the exact point in the airport where planes start their takeoffs!
