    According to the DWP

    Benefit payments over Christmas 2008

    18 December 2008

The Department has always ensured that when customers are due payments on a national public holiday when most banks and financial institutions are closed, they have access to their money in advance.
Payments due on Wednesday 24, Thursday 25, and Friday 26 December will be paid on Tuesday 23 December.
Payments due on Thursday 1 January 2009 will be paid on Wednesday 31 December 2008.

So payments due on 29th, 30th and 31st should be paid as normal.

Benefit payment dates have been posted here over the last month ... I dunno why on earth you thought you'd be paid early. A shame if you were relying on it, right enough.

But it's hardly Gordo's fault that you didn't check with the Jobcentre or here. It's your fault, unfortunately.

WHY did you expect it early ?
As others have said the dates for all sorts of benefit payments have been posted on here for ages. And, just so you know, many people in paid employment ARE NOT PAID EARLY either!
Should you not have found this out in advance and planned a bit more!
Not meaning to be cheeky but I really don't see what sort of response you were expecting! If you don't have food, leccie money etc could someone lend you some money ? Or was the money wanted for 'extras'?
At least you won't be so skint come the 29th!

    Oh for heaven's sake.

I am no great friend of McBroon, but some of the comments are just ridiculous. Irony (if it was irony) does not come over on an internet forum.

Monday 29th December is a normal working day, therefore money due to be paid that day will not be paid in advance. Every year the different payment dates are announced well in advance. If Christmas Day or Boxing Day had fallen on a Monday, when your normal payment date is a Monday, that would have been different.

I think the problem is yours and no one else's - it's down to budgeting.
