A lot of the newer decent quality digi boxes need a good strong signal to work (the cheaper boxes tend to work with less of a signal strength, but the overall quality isnt as good as the more expensive models)
Whats the signal 'strength' at? You really need it at LEAST 50% (but between 90 and 100% would be ideal)
If the aerial is properly set up (ie, facing the correct way, stable, fitted with decent cable etc), then I can only suggest an amplifier (something like this) ~
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=223503&TabID=1&C=SO&U=strat15&doy=search
and then connected inbetween the amp and the digi box/tv with a decent co-ax lead

(the links are purely to show you what im talking about, personally I usually use ebay for things of this nature):idea:0 -
can you try the kitchen box in your sons bedroom to see if it works ok there ?
if the kitchen box works ok in your sons bedroom it could be your kitchen feed/wire thats the problem.
check all leads/connects etc and try unplugging the kitchen digibox and leave 5 mins
then do a new install on the kitchen box0 -
OP has not given much detail on their 'Digital Aerial', i.e whether its indoor or outdoor.
Unless you can see the transmitter from your house you really need a decent outdoor aerial, something like this, http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=22523&&source=14&doy=24m12
A local installer would know the appropriate one for your area.
BTW There are no such things as a Digital Aerials, or cable. People/companies who use this terminology are usually trying to confuse you and rip you off (rant over). That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Ive opted to go for magic eye to hok up sky to the other room.0
