Cuts on speaker cable caused by pet rabbit

Options
HI folks,

I have labtec 5.1 speakers that connect to mains (230-240v) via a supplied transformer.....after powered is reduced via supplied transformer to 14.4v--1000ma ....a few small cuts are in the light power cable which powers the unit, which I have wrapped black insulating tape around....also a few cuts on speaker cable which I have also insulated.....seems to be working fine now.....but I'm a bit worried in case its not safe....what do you think?

I have been told that as long as its on low powered voltage i.e after current has passed though the transformer and not on the main cable connecting to mains then I should be ok but appreciate your advice please.

Speakers are working fine now.

thanks

    Ever seen Fatal Attraction ?

They should be ok but take to an electrical engineer if you are really worried.

You can use a glue gun or epoxy resin as a more permanent repair on speaker cable. Don't try it on mains cable though!
  • As long as it's not the cable between the mains and the transformer then bit of solder and insulation tape should do 'er (may be a slight reduction in sound qual if it is an issue to you - but prob not as pc speakers).

If it is between plug and transformer then bin and replace or see an electrician as bodge jobs with mains ac is NOT recommended.

If still not sure then supply with details of output voltage and current and power (usually printed on the transformer) and i'll have alook.
