bare trust

I want to buy my kids a one-off purchase of shares in a bare trust but I can't find a broker who will do this! Is anyone aware of someone who handles this? My understanding is that all I need to be able to do is buy shares in my name with the child's initials after mine but I've just been told by Halifax this can't be done?!
TIA,
Rachel
