Car tax due?

I just renewed mine online, easy now isn't it eh?

Anyway just as a reminder, and I hope I've got this right, road tax is due to go up next year so I made sure to buy 12 months rather than the normal 6 months. This way I save about £20 anyway buying it for a year instead of 6 months at a time but I also avoid the increase to £240.

Something to bare in mind if your tax is due...

There is only a max increase of £5 now since the Budget announcement made in November.

So you haven't saved £20! But £5 - better than nowt!

6 months roadtax is £101. If I do it this way it would cost me £202, but I paid for 1 year which cost me £185 which is £17 less, so I saved myself £17...and yeah you're right I checked it out and my roadtax is due to increase to £190 in April 2009 so you could say I saved myself £22 on this years roadtax....

I really should pay more attention. Probably why I did so bad in the MSE quiz! Oh well £22 saving ain't bad

Well yes, with 6month discs you always pay an extra 10% admin charge which is non refundable so yes you saved that too!

12month discs are always the most economical as no admin charge.
