  • Just spent ages typing a post for it to blooming disappear!

    A few ideas:-

Altered art photo album- PaperChase sell albums to decorate for £4 each and they are really good. You can paint them with acrylic paints, add torn strips of backing papers and embellishments. Package your album in a box with tissue paper and a few heart sprinkles. An idea would be to theme you album in shades of red or black/pink and embellish with letters spelling out LOVE.

Altered art photo frame- Wilko sell some plain wooden frames 3 for 89p , they look a bit manky when left plain but look great when painted with acrylic paints- you could base coat with white paint and paint small red hearts over once the white has dried.

Handmade sweets - fudge, peppermint creams, rocky road, choc truffles - package in a heart printed cello bag.

Bum Cookies - ppl on here were making rude cookies that looked like bums - bake heart shaped cookies and pipe a thong or pants onto them using writing icing (available from most supermarkets)

Heart Cookies - similar to above but use some royal icing (coloured red) roll it out and cut heart shapes - place these onto the cookies using a little warmed jam or icing sugar mixed with water to help it stick. Decorate with writing icing and edible red glitter.

Romantic Room Spray - use distilled water, vodka and essential oils to make a romantic blend to scent your room for a romantic evening.

Still thinking of more so I`ll keep posting!

  • Hi, what I will be doing for my OH is an idea I read on here, 100 reasons why I love you! This is the way i'm gonna do it. I'm gonna write(in red glitter pen) on heart shaped postit notes and tie each one with very thin red ribbon. I'll put them in a gift box with heart and love confetti. I think he will like this.

Such a sweet idea: he's lucky to have you.

How about being original and giving it to him on a different day? Any day would do really, just not the one commercial pressures dictate that we have to use for declarations of love...
  • I agree with the commercial pressure comment. However making something rather than buying something made for the day is much nicer.
Last year hubby cooked a delicious meal and I decorated the table with hearts, and love hearts and lollipops in wine glasses. It was lovely.
  • Last years valentines i didnt buy presents i made things. I bought a huge bit of pink card and stuck on photos of me and partner and love heart pictures and wrote poems, and quotes that we have between eachother etc. Went down really well!. I also baked heart shape biscuits but they went horribly wrong half ended up black and half ended up rock hard!! lol was quite funny though!xx

Made some choc hearts and choc lollies added a small bottle of sparkling wine a teddy and a balloon and made these hampers from old quality street type tins.

The large one in the middle was for DD and her BF.
    They went down very well.
  • not pressies, but I need to make lots of cards to sell for the Brooke animal hospital (pony carer fundraises for them. Last year we made £500 from July to Nov, this year I am aiming for £1000... :) )
  • I couldn`t find the other Valentines Day threads so have started this new one.

Was just in M&S this morning and noticed they have some lovely bags of heart shaped marshmallows in shades of pink and white and bags of heart shapes chocolates wrapped in pink foil.

These could be split up and put into smaller cello bags with a heart tag with a cute poem on it and added to a valentines love hamper, or could be used in a gift in a jar by layering the chocs on the bottom and the marshmallows on the top and topping off with a personalised jar lid with a heart tag.

Kiln jars are great for the gift in a jar and I have seen these in Boyes stores for £1.79 each.

Could make Valentines Soup with hot choc powder and heart marshmallows mimicking snowman soup?
