.
ok i won't admit to be a mechanic but for a girl i know loads about cars . and i don't know what car u have but that is an extremly high amount for the little it needs to have done. i would shop around, now u know what u need phone up garages and get quotes. even our old cav gsi which had very wide , low profile sport tyres only cost about £60/ £70 each. Hope this helps.
but haven't spent a penny yet today so pleased. not planning on going out. but a betterware book came through the door this morning and some nice bits in there so might make out a little order.0 -

Agree here. Sounds like you are being ripped off, unless the "new exhaust" includes a cat converter which can cost 400quid. If its just a back box then you are looking at more like 70quid tops.
I had 2 new tyres on my car last week which cost 50quid in total, fitted. You can check on http://www.mytyres.co.uk/ to see how much they should cost. Front brake pads for most cars cost £10 a set and take about 20mins tops to fit.0 -

Thanks, I forgot to mention it is being serviced in this price, the part of the exhaust that's gone is the catalyst (expensive part I'm told???), the other bits, labour and VAT of course. I've let them go ahead I'm afraid except for the tyres, I'm going to have them done at the tyre place instead so it will be approx £550 but will still have to find the extra £100 or so to have the tyres replaced v soon. It's a Ford Galaxy BTW, I think I'm going to start a thread for some advice on whether or not to get rid of it!!!0 -
this is a bit of topic but here goes anyway.
ford galaxy's are lovely cars but they are fairly new and if you have spent so much on it already then if it was me i would get rid of it. ford is known to be cheap for parts but they always going wrong every ford we have had ( and we had loads) always cost us a fortune. maybe go for a vauxhall or vw. these make of cars are known for going on for years. my car is a 20 year old golf.and last year all it needed for mot was a headlight bulb.
Hope this helps.0 -
