Do you cook your roasties AFTER your bird?

I'm slightly confused about this. Whenever I do a roast, as I have only one oven, I find I have to do roast pots in with the bird and therefore at 180 degrees rather than the 220-250 they really need.
I rest my bird for 15 mins.
how do the rest of you do it?
Some people seem to do roasties after the bird, but as they take 40 mins surely the bird goes cold?
I do have a separate grill - but I can;t do roasties under that can I?
Help me!!

I have a hostess trolley so meat first then roasties etc after at full heat, however this year we have no gas so it's academic, looks like jam butties for Christmas day lunch0

I cook the meat first then do the roasties. I cover the meat with tin foil and put a couple of thick teatowels over it and it stays warm for quite a while.0

I don;t have a hostess trolley. I have an oven, a grill and a microwave, oh and a steamer.
OH doesn;t eat gravy so I can;t add hot gravy to make meat hot, and I don;t like the idea of nuking it as I may as well have bought a ready meal then.

I shove the roasties in with the bird for the last half hour or so, then take the bird out to rest, and whack the oven up high to finish off the roastiesI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Ditto. My roasties start on the shelf below, then get promoted and turned up when the meat comes out.0 -
I roast my potatoes before the big day and freeze them, then defrost and re-roast on the day. Truely they taste just the same, if not crisper, and I only need to worry if they're warmed through!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

I saw a cooking programme the other day which said you should rest your bird for an hour before serving so this year I am going to try that. I will be cooking the Turkey then taking it out of the oven and covering with tinfoil then doing the roasties in goose fat for the whole hour. We are having lunch at 12 so hopefully it will be all sorted in time:j xxMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150

We always have our meat cold, except if it is chops, or chicken portions cooked in the oven like tonight, not very keen on hot meat0
-
We have our Christmas meat (turkey and gammon) cold as its cooked Xmas Eve. Its must tastier and we all love it!
But no, Saturday Morning Kitchen last week said most meats would stay hot for quite a while if they are cooked well.0
