this is lovely i find it easy to forget how luck i am and spend too much time moaning...on that note happy christmas
    onwards and upwards
  • What a lovely idea. I would add those who have lost a loved one (not just this year). My dad died 2 years ago and my stepmum still finds Christmas very difficult. It was just the two of them and she now prefers to just "hibernate" until it's over.

Thanks for making me think of this in my rush to get everything ready - sometimes I forget to appreciate what I have.

  • Here, here.

I saw a friend today whose husband is in the RAF and won't share xmas day with his family......I know there are far worse things but even this to me is not what I would call xmas!.....raise a glass to those who for on reason or another will not be with their loved ones on Christmas day!

Having lost my marriage,my job and my health this year-I know exactly what you mean!
However,I still have a roof over my head,I have 3 beautiful children, some wonderful friends-and am counting my many blessings this year. My kids may have fewer presents this year but I know they will appreciate what they do have-and the lovely time I am determined we will have.

I have said so many prayers for people I know this week, and when I am at Midnight mass tonight I will be reminded of what is REALLY important.

Merry Christmas everyone-give your family and friends an extra special hug this Christmas xxxx.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

What a lovely thread - thank you Primrose.

Christmas will be hard for me this year as my much-longed for baby would have been due early December, although sadly miscarriage number 5 happened early May. Im working Xmas Day and will be away from my family which is very difficult, however this is my dream job and I've come so far to get it... Im so grateful I have been given a chance.

A happy and peaceful Xmas and New Year to one and all.

I'm very blessed with a wonderful family.
I light a candle every year on christmas day to remember dear departed family and friends.
Everyone has mentioned things I'm thankful for but I would like to remember that a young lad in our town, through out the course of a few short years and one of them very recently has lost his dad, mum, sister and girlfriend and I would wish that some how he manages to find comfort and I truly hope he manages to find some glimmer of happiness.
  • Today is a day that I take time to remember people close to me who are no longer with us. Time may pass and the years may go by, but they are in my heart and memory always, until the day that we are together again.
Today I count my blessings and try to think of those who are less fortunate and those who are in poor health or in emotional distress.
I think of those people today who may be far from friends, family and home.
I thank God every day for the good things and ask his help in dealing with the bad things.
Wishing you all a happy, peaceful Christmas and a wonderful 2009:beer:
