Every one does it different or sometimes they just send the prize with no contact.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I have won thousands of pounds worth of prizes over the last couple of years, my best being a 2 week all inc holiday to the Maldives.
I tend to steer clear of internet comps as so many enter. I go for local paper comps, local radio the onto national papers and radio.
I don't do premium phone ins as they are very expensive and you are competing against thousands who have more money than sense.
Biggest tip ... Don't give up!!! Never!!! You've gotta be in it to win it!!!!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK0 -
I have only really started doing comps since being the board guide on here!! I only really do the internet ones occasionaly enter a few post ones and have 2 small wins since October.
I have won a mexican cook book (runners up prize) and a years family pass to the royal historic palaces which will be great to use in the long summer holidays!! They are only small wins but i was still chuffed to win. Dont give up!!0 -
I won a competition through the NTL homepage - a 3 night trip to New York to meet Bon Jovi (Promotional as they had a new album out). It was just an easy question and fill in your details to win and I nearly fell over when I got a call to say I had won
........... since then nothing, and that was 5 years ago
but I still keep trying. Someone must win them so don't give up. “I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Work out what type of competitions you are best at and focus on them. I tend to do well in the "high score games" and timed quizzes where I know I can get good scores if I'm prepared to put a fair bit of time into practicing/learning the questions (so long as they don't get hacked!) Over the last 3 years I've had a £3k cash prize, Amsterdam weekend, PC, £600 digital camera and a bunch of DVDs, T shirts, footballs, vouchers etc. I don't tend to have a great deal of luck with straight prize draws (other than a couple of successes with the dreaded Nutrigrain £500 ones) Last year there weren't a great deal of the kind of competitions I like but I still reckon I got over £1k worth.
Keep at it and you will get lucky - even if it's just small things to start with, and rememebr that lots of competitons have long closing dates and they can be really bad about getting in touch (Ive received DVDs almost a year after one ended!), so with a bit of luck you might even already have won something and you just don't know it yet.

I've been doing comps for about 4 years, but only started online when broadband reached us last March.
I probably win something small on average every 2 to 3 months. The bigest wins have been, a racing track day and promotional pics (for hubby), 2 digital cameras, a gadget that was even too gadgety for the gadget man- we sold on ebay for £150, 4 tickets to a concert, a night in a 4* hotel.
Most of the other prizes have been DVD's, CD's and books. My advice is too keep tying, but don't get obssesed, just take it as a bit of fun, I never expect to win any comp, then something arrives to suprise me in the post!:j0 -
Thanks you all for your kind words, I'm still trying, about 10 postcard comps a week and at least 30 a day online sometimes over 100 a day. So fingers crossed I'll hear soon, and if not at least I tried, and eventually I've got to win something surely
and then it will really be fun. May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080 -
I think the postcards and entry-form ones have a better chance of winning as you have to spend time and money on those ones - rather than just fill and click on t'internet!!
I've one a holiday to the Great Barrier Reef on Virgin Radio - had to conquer my fear and go 'live' - lol, also a long weekend in Disneyland Paris. Lots of other smaller goodies like lego and a ride in car for little 'uns. Had staacks of books, CD's and T-shirts plus lots of other bits and pieces that always come in handy for presents.
Have a look on the newsgroup - uk.rec.competition (groups in Google) for other ways of entering like the promotional labels on products and store entry forms. I don't post very much there these days as I'm too busy studying and over here - lol.Noli nothis permittere te terere

Did anyone see the story a few years back about a comp on the back of a kitkat wrapper? If I remember right, apparently, they put a competition out on the inside of the wrappers to win one of 10 new kitchens.
Unfortunately, they didnt print a thing on the outside and over the month that the promo ran they only had 8 entries!!!!
All winners there then! lol0 -
I'm entering about 15 postal comps per day and about 20 online comps per day and I manage to win about 1 per week now.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
