I am a recent Maths graduate and am looking to work as a GCSE maths tutor prt time to pay off my student debt's. I was wondering if anyone had any experience of tutors, and could tell me where they found any that they have used.

Cheers

You could try getting on the books of tutorial agencies that match students with tutors. Try looking in the local paper for agencies that are advertising. Most will say new tutors welcome. The other option is to put a note in newsagent's windows & supermarket board's advertising your services. Teachers often recommend tutors when asked by parents, so if you know any teachers let them know your looking for work.

  • Thanks,
The local paper is surprisingly bare when it comes to tutors, I've thought about the supermarkets but didn't know if anyone would be interested

Would recommend you get a CRB check first, which an agency will almost certainly do for you ... Do a search, I am sure this was asked (but it was some time ago) and someone mentioned an agency!

  • it only costs about £30 for a full disclosure which with all this press about dodgy teachers at the moment will be a very good idea!

have you tried mail shots? theyre very effective i find.
