Turn up at the airport and go

I have been looking for any cheap flights to leave Manchester/Liverpool on Boxing Day for 5 nights. I was just wondering if anybody has ever just turned up at the airport on the day, gone to an airport sales desk and asked for a cheap flight to any destination and actually got a bargain. Or alternatively had a couple of destinations in mind say for example Alicante or similar and gone to a few sales desks and again picked up a bargain this way.

Thats very difficult to do, as generally prices go up at the airport, not down. You need to find something on the web or in an agent in advance.

Doesnt work it somewhat of an urban myth, people who fly/buy on the day are the biggest way for the airlines to gain revenue, they are able to cash in on people needing to get somewhere quick sharp ie meeting/funeral etc etc.

Therefore i think youve got a snowballs chance in hell of getting a bargain.
