Three Mobile

Three mobile are a terrible company to deal with. I started my contract in August. It was a promotional deal of £20 for a contract where the standard price was £27
Initially they sent my new handset to the wrong address. Twice. They have my right address, because all my bills from my previous contract got to me fine (I was with three before, and experienced minor, but bearable hassle a couple of times). In the end I had a half hour walk each way to the depot to pick it up.
Once I got my phone all sorted, first time I checked my account online, I noticed I had been put on the wrong contract - one which was totally useless for me. Again I had to chase them to put me on the right contract.
Now thats been sorted I am regularly overcharged (I have to chase them to give me my £7 discount).
I'm convinced they're chancers who hope people won't notice.
I cannot recommend strongly enough, DON'T GO WITH THREE MOBILE.
p.s. if anyone knows how to get out of a mobile contract without any penalty charges advice is welcome.

I've been with Three for about 4 years. Had an upgrade each year, and never had any reason to complain, especially as their tarrifs are usually significantly cheaper than the other networks. Perhaps I am in a minority though.0

I was with Three from the very year they set up business and am still unfortunately with them. I had a number of problem free years on contract with them until this April, the time to renew my contract came. When the redemptions department said they couldn't offer me a better deal than one I had found in a Three shop, I took out two contracts from the shop (one for me, one for OH).
The very next day, the redemptions dept called to offer me a better/much cheaper deal . Needless to say it took a week of negotiating with the shop to get the new contracts cancelled. The three shop were fantastic in doing this- no complaints there. I then got in touch with the redemptions dept (I had spoken to them every day since the offer was made) who then said that it was too late for me to take up the offer cue lots of shouting from me. I made a written complaint, to which they sent a letter back dismissing the problem.
I am now on PAYG with Three (only because I am too tight to shell out for a new mobile and my Nokia is locked to Three).
Disgraceful service from Three to what I would call myself, a loyal customer. I shan't be staying with them much longer and would advise anyone to think twice before signing up to a contract with them.0 -
 Has any one else had this problem trying to terminate their contract with 3.
My Mobile Phone was stolen back in May 08, because the cost of finishing the contract early, was more than letting the contract run its course, I elected to carry on paying the line rental (1st mistake)
I then rang up 3 times in December 1 month before contract ended to try and cancel, but was told each time I needed to cancel on 31st December or beginning of Jan. I let them persuade me to call back later in the month (another mistake)
I repeatedly tried phoning at end of Dec and again in Jan but when I pressed all the right buttons I got a number disengaged tone.
Finally I went via option of 'trouble with your phone' and got transferred internally to the cancellations department.
I was on the phone for 51 mins 40 seconds telling the other person on the line that I wanted to cancel the phone contract.
At first he was very reasonable, explaining that I would save money by getting another contract with them. Saving on the £10 a month pay as you go phone that I was currently using, but I was adamant that I wanted to cancel the contract.
The conversation then disintegrated into me saying I want to cancel this contract have you done so, and him replying, not yet because I am trying to save you money.
There was a lot more altercations than this, I wish I had recorded the conversation.
At one point I asked him outright are you going to cancel this contract and he said NO.
I asked to speak to the line manager and he said he would get some one to call back; this was not good because I went down that route when reporting the phone stolen and it took over 2 weeks to speak to someone.
My husband then took the phone from me and said he would be reporting him and we would now be charging his company £20 per 15 mins of our time.
I took the phone back (because I feared for his blood pressure!!!)and told him that I would be emailing his company to complain.
I again asked if he had cancelled the contract and got the 'not yet..' answer again (for the umpteenth time) so I got the Ofcom telephone number and put in a call to them (on another mobile phone) and told him who I was phoning.
I asked again had he cancelled the contract and you've guessed it got the reply 'not yet.....'
My husband then in the background outlined (loudly) what I had to say to Ofcom and what emails I had to send etc. and the phone went dead at his end. What a surprise.!!!
But what a hassle and I still do not know if the contract has been cancelled.
What would you do now, if you were in my shoes?
Any help and advice very gratefully received as I am not leaving it at this.

I am shocked that so many people have bad problems with 3. I have been with 3 for about 5 years now and don't have problems with them at all. I have upgraded with them yearly and been treated well. I even managed to get my bill down from £45 to £25 by threatening to go with Orange if they didn't let me downgrade my tariff (I didn't need as many mins as I had done previously.) My one bugbear was when a 3 operator rang out of the blue and offered me mobile broadband. I took up the offer but declined the laptop. Then when I decided a week later that I did want the laptop, I was told I couldn't because you can only take out the laptop offer at time of taking new contract. So I cancelled that contract and went into town centre following day and took out new contract in Phones4U. Still on 3, but with nice sparkly new laptop too!0

Avoiud 3 like the plague. Girlfriends phone has been sent away 8 times and replaced for a "new" one (actually a refurb with more problems). Its spent more time in the repair shop and she pays x amount a month and never really gets to use it.Live for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

My friend mentioned the other week how she had massive connectivity issues with Three although they did give her a refund of full month costs because of the issues she was encountering. After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.0
