Virgin Atlantic Sale

Hello,
did anyone else get caught out by the Virgin "sale"? I bought a ticket to NYC for next June ('09) however, 3 days after purchase they announced a sale and it's an incredible £100 cheaper!
Can anyone advise on what my chances are of scoring a refund? Slashing prices 3 days after purchase just seems so unfair... there should be a 7 day grace policy where if prices go down at this time they are refunded.
Thanks in advance,
JC

They will argue that it is a different booking class.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

What are the T and Cs of your ticket? Unless there is a cancellation clause, or some kind of fares guarantee, your chances are zero.
And if you could not afford to travel at the original fare, why did you buy the ticket?0 -

I can afford it hence the booking way in advance to get a good price... Still, doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to recover the difference! Just because you can afford it is not a good enough reason to pay more!?!
If you found out you'd overpaid by £100 would you not attempt to recover it? Thought that was the whole point of this site...
Thanks anyway for those who attempted to answer, apologies to the age old veterans of the forums. Did not realise it was such a bore being a 1st time poster.0 -
You have not overpaid. You paid the price that you thought was fair for the product on offer.
Would you be offering to pay £100 more had the price gone the other way?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Dubloons all round then!!!!
Didnt mean to offend but there are so many posts on this site which is new peeps posting a "rip off/overpaid" threads and then despite the locals giving their opinion the OP is never seen again, therefore I apologise for putting you in the same bracket.
You're quite right this site is about saving money and getting the most for your money but as dmg has said, and i have said on countless occasions on such threads, would you be willing to pay the difference if the flights went up? You accept the price on that day and pay it and thats it.
Hope ya enjoy your holiday.

It's like saying you bought all your xmas presents at full price and then getting all indignant when they are half price in the sales!
Prices go up and down like yo-yos with VS - if you had done any king of research you would know what lowest likely fare was and kept watching the prices until they reached what you wanted to pay.
That said, I was slightly caught out because I bought m+m tickets for £320 each + 2000 F.C miles to Orlando a month ago and they were £317 each without miles in the sale but I was more than happy with £320 so there you go.
I assume the sale prices for NYC were around £250?"There is a light that never goes out"0 -
Why oh why did you look at the price again after you bought the ticket?
That is the age old adage, never never look again.
Don't let it spoil your trip, just enjoy yourself. there are bound to be people on your flight that have paid even more than you.
P.S. Virgin don't do refundsThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
