Just to clarify, my nephew came to live with me in May. I helped him to enrol in an Access to Emplyment course, as he had been out of school for a long time and was not sure what he wanted to do. He then decided he wanted to be a Physiotherapist. It was at that point (July) that he started to do a course in healthy and fitness until he started college in September. It is true that the father is not responding to the communication from CB, possibly because he was still receiving payment while his son was living with other people.
I am now the main carer and the father is not contributing anything towards his upkeep. Child Benefit should at least told me l do not qualify or update me on what is happening. I applied for Tax Credits at about the same time, and received payment within a week.
