I feed my Oscar a raw diet with Instincts TC from this company that makes the raw food diet complete for cats and dogs.

Kimberley, am I mistaken or do/did you not think that giving an animal a raw bone was likely to lead to injury and death and not worth the risk?

I am sure we have disagreed on this point before re:dogs and bones??!

That was cooked bones, they can splinter, raw meat is fine I believe. Is that right?

Well, I believe raw bones to be fine - there is always a risk, but its not huge - but I think you once had a bit of a go at me about feeding mine raw bones? Could be wrong!

With the cat, do you add SA37 powder? I used to be a zoo keeper and the wild canines needed this added to raw meat to maintain good health - no idea if the same applies to domestic cats.

No, I add Instincts TC which is roughly the same as SA37 powder.

Maybe I did have a go at you about the Raw bone, i'm not sure, sorry if I did, I guess my views have changed since my Oscar has been on Raw. I do give him a whole chicken leg in which he eats the lot. I'd never give cooked bone though.
  • I fear I'd have issues persuading my cat to go onto a natural diet. She'll only eat the dried food I feed her, won't entertain wet food, or even fish! (Odd cat LOL).
She'll eat cooked chicken and ham. When the pup has a chicken wing, she'll come and have a look and a sniff but won't try to steal or share it (the pup would let her!) and if a little piece of raw chicken falls off, she'll sniff and maybe lick it but won't eat it. Is she just odd, do you think?

She is just used to eating dry food, in time she would eat it if she were hungry, cats will not starve themselves if there is food down they will eat anything if hungry.
