Families have moved into their newly rebuilt homes in New Orleans in time for Christmas, all thanks to Brad Pitt
.
The actor pledged £3.4million to help rebuild the area after it was devastated by Hurricane Katrina three years ago.

And Brad, who funded 150 eco-houses in the Lower Ninth Ward and plans to build many more as part of the Make It Right project, is clearly a hero to the returning homeowners.

(Brad and Angelina had bought a mansion in another part of NO, a year after Katrina had struck..)

  • TBH, they are not the only celebrities who donate money to various charities.

Although they are one of the more high profile couples and therefore can highlight that this problem is still current. Apparently even now there are some areas of New Orleans which are more like war zones, which is a disgrace considering America is one of the most riches countries in the world.

Family friend's of mine has two phyiscally disabled boys with the muscle wasting disease 'Duchenne muscular dystrophy' and recently the youngest got a device to help him feed himself. This device fastens onto the back of his electric wheelchair and you put his arm into what looks like a lifting sling and he can control the up/down movement with a button and feed himself, therefore keeping his independance. It's great.

Anyway this device was supplied by David And Victoria Beckham's childerns charity and either her or his mam (not sure which one it was) phoned them up personnally to ensure that it was okay and working. Also heard a story about a little boy who needed a wheelchair and was something like 20th of the waiting list, so the Beckham's bought everyone a wheelchair so the lad could get one.

I guess the media slate many of the celebrities too many times that everyone just ends up believing the hype and don't realise the good so many of them actually do for people who are worst off than themselves.
  • yeah but, no but... would my £10 or so (at the time) donation have got as much press..?
