  • They're not owned by UPS by any chance are they?

i 100% agree with ferretktf - the nice people delivering for Next & Tesco cannot be beaten but as with all delivery companies it very much depends on the particular driver and their depot.

i guess if the driver has a bad day this reflects right back onto to the company you bought from.

I am a regular buyer at SVP.... I've had plenty of problems with Initial Citylink but not Interlink Express... in fact I have Interlink depots close to me so if I miss them it isn't a hassle to go and get the parcel...

Citylink, have some times never even attempted a delivery at my home (no card etc..) and sometimes just blames too many parcels, too few drivers!

I've been a regular customer of SVP for a couple of years and don't recall any problems with delivery.

It's unfortunate that you've had such a bad experience. I hope you get sorted out soon.

In the meantime, keep adding your thoughts to this thread to get them out of your system and use up all that free time sitting in the house!
  • hiya everyone,

it seems my post on MSE prompted SVP into paying a bit more attention to the problems I was experiencing with Interlink.

I sort of feel a little bit bad for airing my complaints with the heading "SVP appalling service Interlink Express" because 90% of the problem has of course been due to their courier company INTERLINK EXPRESS.

Like Johntea suggested, SVP kindly offered to reimburse me the cost of sending the DVD recorder back to them directly through Royal Mail. I'm going to give Interlink one more chance (the fourth try) to make the pick-up like organised on Wednesday and after that I will do the Royal Mail thing.

It seems Interlink is set up as a franchise of individual delivery companies so the quality of service can simply come down to how good your local delivery guy is.... it's not really the company as a whole that is the problem, although I would have thought that they would have measures in place to bring their 'dodgy' franchises into line for fear of diminishing the overall company's reputation but perhaps they don't really care too much about this.

I do want to say that I'm really grateful for SVP coming to the rescue at last and sorting out a solution to my problems - they were very pro-active when I last had problems with Interlink (back in Oct 05) and I'm glad this latest drama has finally been sorted out.

I fully plan to spend a lot more of my money through SVP but will probably choose a different or more expensive delivery option that Interlink and CityLink who I now see have cause many other consumers equal or even worse headaches than i've experienced with Interlink.

    cheers

to SVP's credit, they sold me a Ronin DVD player for £25 (which I don't think they stock anymore) that is able to play absolutely ANY dvd you throw at it and still works perfectly over a year after I bought it.

and I also bought an awesome Phillips (USB linked) DVD burner in an external case which I've had for about a year and a half now and still it's going great guns.

all the DVD and CD media plus DVD/CD cases I've bought from them has been pretty damn good too so I can't fault them on the quality and value of their products whatsoever (apart from some DVD marker pens that lasted for writing on only about 10 DVDs before the ink dried up but they were only 1 or 2 pounds).
  • Last Friday Amtrak delivered a DVD recorder to my home worth over £250. As I was not sure they were going to deliver that day, as the dealer I bought from gave a 1-3 day delivery slot, no one was at home to receive it. Amtrak left it on the front doorstep, in full view of anyone passing. The box was not wrapped and clearly showed the contents. I'm fortunate to live in a quiet area and have quite vigilant neighbours, but I wonder what would have happened if it had been taken. Amtrak had no signature to confirm delivery, but you can be your life I would have had trouble getting a second dvd/ refund.
I contacted the dealer who was quite shocked - guess they would be victims too?

Pleased to hear there has been a happy ending... I just wish SVP would start selling those cheap Epson compatible IMJET ink cartridges again....they are better than the originals..... no wonder Epson are getting heavy handed with the legal threats.
