Estimated cost of gravel drive

Hello,
I really hope someone can help.....
We have a current 'awful' concrete driveway, quite large around 140m2. It's very old and coming apart and we would like to have the concrete dug up and lay 20mm gravel with neat edging etc, we had some paving quotes some time ago but this was very expensive (~9-12k) and we just can't afford this. I've heard gravel is a much cheaper option, most of the cost I assume would be the preparation and digging up of the concrete. Does anyone have an idea of a fair total cost for this kind of job? - im aware paving appears to be around £60 per m2.
Thanks for your help

You don't need to dig up the concrete slab unless it provides problems with finished levels. You can just perferate the slab, lay a geotextile membrane down and then lay your gravel on top. This is common practice in the construction of adoptable highways so is not a half measure. The cost is totally dependant on type of gravel, thickness of layers etc. Your best bet is to find a supplier of the gravel you like and then get a cost from them. The supplier will tell you what volume the bags contain and then you can work out how much you need to complete your design. A builder or a groundowrks contractor will be able to give you a linear metre rate for laying edgings.
Hope this starts you off in the right directionSome people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0
