kitchen plinth and wonky floor!

Hiya,
Our new plinth looks pants because the kitchen floor is all over the place - isn't there some kind of trim that you can get that goes between the plinth and the floor to "even" things out? I've had a look online and down at B&Q but no luck so far....
Our poor kitchen supplier has gone bust so they can't help
Does anyone know if such a product exists?

Nope, didn't get any trim.
Missing a handle and 9 hinges, and our £200 "stainless" steel drainer has tarnished, too . Bought more hinges and sourced another handle, am going to try toothpaste or brasso on the drainer.0 -
The above trim won't really do the job as the trim won't fit to the floor. In otherwords your plinth will still have a straight edge and will not look fitted to the floor. What u need to do is scribe the bottom of the plinth to the floor. Its not the easiest job to do or explain but ill try anyway. Put a pencil horizontal on the floor and run a line along the bottom of the plinth while it is in situ. If the floor is more than 4/5mm out u may need to put a bit of a spacer under the pencil. This will then put line on the plinth which will match the floor. Cut this with a jigsaw and it should match upto your floor. It take quite a bit of skill to get this done correctly but if you do Robert's you're mother's brother0

Yeah exactly as steve says although, my way fo explaining it would be:
1)Find thespot where the gap is the largest, and lay a pencil on the floor with the tip on the plinth
2) If the gap is too large for the tip to reach the plinth, place some sheets of newspaper under it to raise the tip to reach the plinth
3)Scribe, this means moving the pencil (and newspaper if used) along the plinth, "scribing" a pencil line along the length
You should now have a wavy pencil line on your plinth, that should match your wavy floor.
4) Cut out using a jigsaw use a new sharp blade or you will chip off the veneer ( you can buy jigsaw blades that cut on the down stroke which will also stop the plinth from chipping.
5) Finally if you mop your floor it is worth waterproofing the bottom of the plinth, you can do this with a few coats of varnish or run a bead of clear silicone along edge ( exposed chipboard) and using a finger rub this into the chipboard which will create a waterproof barrier) let it dry before refitting the plinth.0 -
Thanks Fred and Steve; hubby's trimmed the plinth, I was after something to neaten the edge where there's a shadow in a few places.
Honestly, if we had a 400 year old cottage fair enough but this is an ex council property! :rotfl:
I do mop the floor, so thanks for the tip about varnishing0 -
Just to conclude the above thread, and just in case anyone reads this with the same problem...
Bought B&Q plinth trim, it's for 16mm thickness, our plinth is 18mm thick.
Managed to track some 18mm trim on Isaac Ward's website -
