What should I do to complete my Squeezebox Duet purchase........

I'd go for an amplifier with speakers myself.

Personally I'd do the same as MartyJ, but the choice depends, among other things, on

    What your budget is
    How much space you have
    What sound quality you want
Whether you are likely to want to upgrade in future

The quality active speaker route might be a good compromise, as you could re-use them on your PC if you decide to upgrade.

The SqueezeBox Boom is just under £200 so that is probably my budget.

Ideally I would like the system (inc speakers) to fit on a bookshelf type arrangement.

Obviously as good as I can get but I very much doubt I will be playing my tracks at exceedingly high dB so distortion is not really a consideration.

    Probably not, no.

I (sort of) like the idea of powered speakers but probably feel I need an amp, EXCEPT, I'm not really looking for a wide rack style amp. Was looking in shops today and Denon and Onkyo had a couple of CD players with Amps which might do the job (it may prove useful to have a CD player avaialble just in case). They (obviosuly) do dofferent versions but they were priced about £200 - £350.

All comments / advice / expereince welcomed.
