Where to rent in central North London (up to £1500 pcm)?

I have a colleague, who has just gone through a divorce, and is looking for a 2 bed flat in North London for anything up to £1500 pcm.
He wants some place that has good tube / train links, but has also got a bit of green space around it. As he’s single again, I suppose he’d need an area with good bars and a bit of a social scene too
I don’t really know north London at all, having lived in SW London for years. Can anyone else advise?
Thanks all

What about Camden Town? There is the Northern Line tube straight into town as well as a BR station and great bus links. It's very lively with lots of pubs and venues for gigs etc. There is Regents Park a walk away and a bus ride to other parks such as Hyde Park etc. There's also Parliament Hill Fields and Hampstead very near by.
Tell him to look on Rightmove, I am sure there will be some 2 beds on there for under £1500 or try Kentish Town which is a bit cheaper but just up the road from Camden.0 -
Muswell Hill. Possibly, Crouch End. £1500 is probably enough for Hampstead/Highgate too, but IMHO these are not as lively as the first two.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

You really could go anywhere up the Northern line, finchley has some greenery and the vue cinema complex, hendon has brent cross.
Further out and barnet is on the edge of the green belt.
Remember the further out you travel the higher the commuting costs to central london.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It all depends on what he is after, really. Assuming he is single and in his 30-s or thereabouts, my first recommendation would be Islington - lots of nightlife around Upper Street, Highbury Fields park (one of London's best kept secrets), great transport links and a vast amount of new rental properties which have driven the price down in the past few months.
Camden might be a bit too youthful for his liking, and Hampstead/Highgate are pricey and more suited to families.0 -

What is 'central North London'? Is it:
a. North London?
b. Central London?
c. East of Northwest London?
d. West of Northeast London?
I reckon it's South Birmingham.

Thanks for all these suggestions.
If there's no tube in Muswell Hill, what are the other transport options?0 -
Bus to highgate underground station is the easiest.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
