How much can i expect?

HI Guys

I bought a Desktop PC about 12 months ago i think, maybe longer, anyway i am thinking of changing to a laptop and wondered how much i can expect for my PC.

It was built for me and has:

Intel Pentium Processor - i think its a Pentium 4 but says Pentium (R) D CPU
2.80GHz processor speed
0.99GB of RAM
and the space says 155GB of total space on the C drive.
I have a 17" Flat Screen Monitor,
Speakers,
a Brother laser printer but i'd like to keep that.

What you think? + also what you think on the laptop front - what should I go for?

I'd like to sell my PC and then buy the laptop so obviously dont want a massive expense.

Thanks

Paul

I'm afraid to say that you'll probably not get a whole lot for this. Given that you can build yourself a really decent machine these days for around £300 you'll probably not get much more than £100, if even that much.

You don't say what licensed operating system and software you are selling with it. This has value too, especially if you have a fully licensed version of Office as this in itself is worth a couple of hundred notes.
  • I would guestimate £100 or so if you stick it in the local newsagent window as that spec is now getting on for 3-4 years old

    Good luck
  • with monitor etc (but no printer) £100-£130 with xp disk
Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.
  • ok Thanks for the info guys - its all fully licensed and has Microsoft Office, and Windows XP. I did have Vista on it but thought it was god awful!!

For that money then I'll probably keep it and get a cheap laptop - I actually still have a few old PC's. Wonder if there is a recylcing facilty for them like mobile phones??

Its more aggravation than its worth get rid of old pcs unless you keep it or give it away to friends. I tend to hold on to them or give them away like I did 2 months back with a Dell 2.93ghz Celeron with 14" LCD monitor to MIL

Probably because you've only got a gig of ram. Vista-no-likey
  • Ha ha - yeah thats a good idea. I have a few Nephews and Neices's so can give them away.

Just for infor the Monitor is Dell 17" Flat screen and the laser printer is a Brother HL2030 although I dont suppose this makes much difference. I have a few software discs like Nero 7 (i think) but again - i think i'll keep em.

Cheers for the fast response everyone - speek soon :)

Well 2nd pc makes a good server or multi media pc for tv (LCD etc) assuming its reasonable quiet.

You can play XviD, DVD's, photo slide shows stream video via iplayer or music via winamp etc

Get rid of all the crap and have just basic pc with VLC player, Winamp for example

I have a old pc that does this mainly for HD content using vlc player
