Toucan service is moving to Pipex

Looks like the Toucan home phone brand is disappearing.
Been with them since May last year: line rental £8.99, freephone CS (Dublin) and override to 18185 etc. allowed.
Had a letter saying that Pipex will take over service. Told that if we do not like new T&Cs we can move without penalty to a new provider. (Currently on annual contract.)
Does Pipex bar short override codes? If so, off to BT with Primus Saver!

Being an AOL Broadband customer, I have been receiving regular e-mails from them about their AOL Talk Unlimited phone package which offers unlimited calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers at anytime.
I am having both my line rental and calls with Toucan at present. They are transferring the service to Pipex from the end of Feb 2009. My package with Toucan is the 2-for-All which offers free weekend calls with no limit on call duration. Once it has moved to Pipex, the call duration will be limited to 90 minutes per call, and then chargeable at 1.25p per minute thereafter plus 7p connection charge.
I always ring my parents at weekend using 'Talkster' or the 01793 number at no cost though each call could last for more than 90 minutes.
However, I was advised by Heinz in another thread that I would not be able just to move my calls to AOL Talk Unlimited whilst retaining the line rental with Pipex.
Anyone has any suggestions?0 -
Having had chance to read the new T&Cs properly I've already set the ball rolling to go back to BT. My own tariff, which charged 3p for weekend/evening calls, is being replaced by one not dissimilar to BT's 'unlimited weekend plan'; However, there is no guarantee of continued override codes working.
Toucan was great as a phone provider, but you get the feeling that Tiscali will be more prevalent with Pipex ie the product and service will be rubbish.
I am about to order my Orchid dialler and will follow Heinz's plan. BT have already given me a date to take over the line, so I will wait until nearer the time to call Primus.
I would encourage any other Toucan customers to study the changes carefully.RIP independent MSE.
