Thankyou all so much for your advice etc on the laptops i asked about, finally on friday DH brought me an ASUS laptop it has a 3gb memory and 160gb hard drive so plenty big enough for me and he has said he will get me an external hard drive or memory stick if i want to store things off the laptop.
im not sure of the model name etc but it was oly £342 in staples and was really good in comparison to all the ones in that price range i couldnt haggle the man down on it ( turned out the other manager was an old work collegeue so much nicer than first manager) i did however manage to get a free laptop skin ( not their cheapest either :-) ) and a free optical mouse too.
im really pleased and i shall let you all know how i get on when dave lets me have it on xmas day :-)
thanks again.
