What colour is your carpet and what colour is the dye? Is it permanent or semi permanent?
Aren't there hair products out there designed to remove hair dye from your hair? I know they're not designed for carpets but they may be worth a go?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get hair dye out of the carpet. I have been away for a week and my daughter decided to dye her friends hair dark brown. They managed to get quite a big bit on the carpet and I don't know how to get it off.

Hi Sugarloaf,
We have an older thread that might give you some ideas so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

Hello
I had a similar problem with the hair dye but used bleach on it after Googling some suggestions. I also used way too much bleach and my (cream/beige) carpet has a large white patch on it. And the house is rented.
Does any one have any suggestions on how to get rid of the bleach please?0 -

I'm not sure why this works buts it does. I was dying my hair in my room, foolish as I am did not put the mat down. I got some black dye on my cream carpet, I used this solution on the stain about 40 minutes after contact and it brought it out within about 3 seconds. I had a patch of dark brown dye on another part of the carpet from months ago, the solution worked on this too, in the same amount of time.
Brilliant!!!:p0 -
I spilled a permanent dark blonde dye (mixture of shade 6 and 7) on my carpet.
After the dye had been there about 12 hours (I dyed it just before going to bed), I tried a mixture of washing up liquid (~3 tablespoons) and white wine vinegar (half a cup) in warm water and scrubbed it into the carpet with a tea towel. It works really well although I must add I have a patterned beige carpet which generally hides a multitude of sins, what with being in a student house, but the spillage had been on a lighter section.
As it's brightened up the carpet so nicely, I will use the rest to have a general clean of the carpet to get top marks from my landlady and hopefully my full deposit back at the end of my tenancy :A0
