Does anyone know how the Post Office Home Phone deal compares to BT's Light User Scheme. I don't see how it can be cheaper than BT. Any advice welcome.

It does not offer anything like the BT Light User Scheme. If you are a true BT light user receiving a large discount. You would probaly be better staying with BT.PF.0

PO Counter Clerk tried to hard sell me their service this afternoon, totally gobsmacked when I told her that UK landlines cost nothing on Voipcheap and UK mobiles only 1p a minute on 08448616464 ! Asked me where I got that info so wrote down the site url for her !

It's worth it if you are a light user simply because of the £50 off your bill they are currently offering and you can also get uo to £15 cashback.0

Yep, definitely worth it if you're willing to switch back to BT after 9 months or so, cashback is £30 via Quidco :beer:exel1966 wrote:It's worth it if you are a light user simply because of the £50 off your bill they are currently offering and you can also get uo to £15 cashback.

Thanks, but how does the Post Office Home Phone justify the cost of line rental, when BT give massive discounts to Light Users?0

Only use the phone for emergencies - I am a true Light User!

The general idea here is if you are a 'light' user sign up to the PO to take advantage of the £50 offer, grab your cashback, then say after about 6 months switch again.
Basically it means for most of that time your line rental is FREE.0

Just noticed on their site ,and also in an advert in todays Daily Express .They dont accept applications from BT Light Users.
I quote from their faq page
" Do I need a residential line to qualify?
Yes, you need a standard residential line to become a Post Office™ HomePhone customer. Unfortunately, we cannot accept orders from customers using cable, the BT Light User scheme or Kingston Communications."PF.0

The Post Office are not allowed to transfer customers on BT Light User, nor can any of the other providers. The Light User scheme is a special arrangement that only BT can provide with its associated restrictions, such as not being able to have broadband on the line.
To switch providers you would first have to ask BT to transfer you to Option 1, then immediately switch to your chosen supplier.
