Win XP pro. Radeon 7000 graphics card.Monitor at 75hz.1024x768
Sometimes at start up I get horizontal brown lines across the monitor screen.I have used ctrl/print screen to save the fault but when I look at the picture in word there are no brown lines. I am advised that this would indicate a monitor fault.Samsung don't agree saying that they have no reports of this type of fault and that it is the graphics card.I have found 5 reports on the web indicating this particular fault on the 793DF model.Monitor is still under warranty.Anyone else have this problem or could throw some advice my way.
Thanks any help.

Have you tried re-seating the graphics card and/or trying the monitor on a different graphics card.
Problems like at usually caused by either a bad/incorrectly seated graphics card or a monitor cable problem.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Thanks and have done all you suggested. A friend who runs a tv repair shop said as I was unable to capture the defect using ctrl/print screen then copying the result into ms/word that would indicate a monitor fault.
Who knows somebody may come up with I have had that fault and Samsung changed the monitor but at the moment they do not want to play.0 -
Email samsung with the links to the findings and ask them to explain it
I would get http://www.msgtag.com/Email_Receipt_.html so you have
proof that the email was recieved (secretly) they wouldnt know the email
has been tracked so if they lied you would be able to prove em wrong.
Thats if they have an email address that is.0 -
To Intel
I have contacted Samsung with the faults and pointed out five reports on Amazon regarding the brown lines but Samsung say they have no faults logged against this particular model. Head and brick wall comes to mind. Still if it catches fire may be they will admit a defect.
Thanks for your reply though.0 -
Hi
Just wondered where you bought your monitor from and if you couldn't return it to them, seeing as its under warranty, also have you tried to either plug in another monitor on your pc or tried your samsung on another pc just to do comparisions and elimate the possibly of a faulty graphics card.
Hope this helps0 -
The brown lines not to much of a problem the last few days. Bought from Savastore (difficult getting them to reply to e-mails) Yes have got a spare 15" monitor if things get too bad to try. Still 2 years left on warranty.0
