Useless Alliance & Leicester e-Saver

Just following up on my post above.
I have eSaver2 & DirectISA witl A&L, and they will only allow withdrawels to my linked current account, and am unable to add more payees.
IF I were to open an A&L current account then I would be able to send to anyone I want?
Few questions - as an existing customer will my account opening be pain free or will I need to jump through 'identification' hoops (I appreciate a Credit Check will be done).
How does their Current Account work? Do I need one of those Card Reader things or is the CA painless in that regard?0 -
All the A&L current account cost money to run as far as I can see. If you are happy to pay them for the privilege of them having your money, fine.0

Where did you get that from?? As long as you pay in £500 a month it's free
If anything I see they pay YOU £100 to sign-up plus free travel insurance;

Nothing on their fees page which suggests it cost anything either

I am closing my A&L account because of problems with Firefox and not being able to pay in money at the Post Office since they replaced my debit card with a Santander one.
The Santander card is also on the list of worst debit cards to use overseas. I couldn't log in to my Santander credit card account for weeks either. That didn't work in IE either, although I can access my current account in it. I cleared all my cookies etc. - it is just their website being rubbish.
I am no fan of HSBC either but at least their stuff works and they have a branch near where I work. I only got the A&L account to get the £100 deal and £50 cashback. It was okay when I could pay in at the Post Office but now that doesn't work it is too much hassle to go into their branch in town.0 -
PS. I think the logging in problem could be related to Flash. For some reason they use it on the verification page. I had problems logging in via IE 32 bit which has Flash but not with 64 bit which does not. Clearing Flash cookies will probably fix it.0
