Problem connecting to websites

Don't know your exact set-up, but I have VM cable with separate router, so I'd connect straight to the modem to see if router is the problem.
Or have I missed something.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
It's not AOL is it? I had trouble accessing secure wbsites using a netgear router with AOL. It was something to do with the maximum package length setting which if my memory serves me defaults at 1700 and it needs to be changed to 1400. Someone with more knowledge will be able to tell us exactly what it was.
I think it's the MTU stting0 -

I connectd straight to the router and everything worked fine, So I went and bought a new router and it is all sorted.
Thanks for all your suggestions I am very gratefull.
I am wondering whether it is a problem with actual physical connections as we have had to unplug it a lot recently as we had problems connecting to the internet.0
