Buying shares

I want to buy around £500 shares in DSGi. What is the cheapest way to buy?

Also, I want to be able to sell them instantly and not wait around. I am with HSBC and have online banking thanks!

PS: no comments on how not to buy in dsgi

Selftrade are probably the best option for you.

They charge £12.50/trade but have a referral scheme where you could get up to £80 for joining them (my own details are in post 295) if you are buying £500+ worth of shares.

This means you will make some money after dealing costs..

so does that mean £12.50 to buy and then £12.50 to sell?

sorry im a bit slow with this whole thing
  • After dealing costs you have 2800 shares at 17p, whereas a £50 spread bet with a cautious stop at 7p will give you equivalent exposure (£500) and the leverage of 5000 shares all tax free. Just a thought.

Yes. Which makes it very expensive if you are buying and selling in small amounts unfortunately.

You will also have to factor in Stamp Duty when buying, which again goes to makes small purchases a bit expensive

It's absolutely not worth buying that small a quantity of shares in Dixons.

You don't want comments on why you shouldn't buy DSG, but I'm curious to know why you think you should buy in?
    Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.
