I have done some googling, and it seems that most Halfords do give these out to forces peeps. We need some bits from there and my hubby is RAF AMM so will let you know how we get on tomorrow! Hope this info is useful for someone, I know its been mentioned on the motoring board before, but I dont think its been on the forces one. xx

I wonder how you show that your a mechanic in the forces.....or do they just take your word for it mmmmm I'll be looking forward to your replyIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
From what ive seen on the net some stores just take your ID card as proof and dont bother asking about your trade, and some want to see eng/ mech certs. Will take NVQ certs just in case. xx0

i went in to Halford's and asked for a trade card. They accepted my forces ID card as proof, no questions.0

Yep we managed fine with just ID card too. xx0

i got mine using my id. you save an absolute fortune on halfords own brand car parts. up to 50% off some stuff.
the card can be used in any halfords.
not on bike stuff or car polish though.
tools and parts - yesYou got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.0 -
My husband also has got one , although his id card on it's on was not enough. he needed his NVQ certificates etc that stated he was a qualified technician0
-
Do the cards have an expiry date?0
-
