If you are the owner of the apartment then my thoughts are that you could write a letter to the management company(keep copy, hand deliver or send RD) listing the number of phone calls that you have made trying to get hold of them, & stating that you weren't forewarned & don't have a key so have had no option but to temporarily remove the lock so that you can get access to your home.
Tell them that they can collect the lock from you by arrangement so that they can refit it & properly issue everyone with keys. Take photos of the door, & the lock before and after, and/or get another resident/tenant to act as a witness.
If you're a tenant then contact the council's Tenancy Relations Officer urgently & ask for their help: locking a tenant out can constitute harassment.0 -
(I'm a Landlord..) This is disgraceful.. I'd be inclined in your shoes to also write/email the Police. I think harassment is a criminal offense.
Is the management company a ltd or plc?? If so then Companies House
http://www.companieshouse.org.uk/
then "webcheck..
will give you for £1 the home addresses (usually) of all directors.. I think you know what to do when you get these addresses...Wisdom is the daughter of experience0 -

I was wondering about that too. Surely it breaches fire regulations?sarah_elton wrote: »This part confused me - what is the point of having a locking door inside the front (locking) door?!
I'd be going spare if this happened at my flat. It's a ludicrous situation. :eek:0 -
Surely they are denying access to your own property?
Does your insurance company have a legal helpline?
It might be worth a call to the local police station, even if they cant directly do anything, if you inform them that you are going to remove the lock or door, i think the management company would have a major problem trying to take any action against yourself.0 -
