Aol Wireless Setup ?

Options
Hi my brother has aol Broadband . He has just purchased a laptop and now wants to connect his laptop ~(which is already wireless enabled) to the internet. He went to pc world on friday but came back with a router that is no use. It does not have usb ect which is what he uses to connect his existing modem. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

If you have bought a router with modem in it you shouldn't need to connect the router via usb. As long as you have an ethernet port in the back of the pc you just buy an ethernet cable and connect that between the router and the pc. Your existing modem will be obsolete.
Make sure the router has ethernet ports as well as being wireless capable unless your pc has a wireless card in it also.
  • David,

Any particular reason why did your brother decide to go broadband with AOL?
My dad has been looking at broadband and has (almost) decided on the Post Office.
On line they sell the wireless modem for £25 but they then give you £25 of savings vouchers; think first month is free.

No reason at all for him to have choosen aol. It would Not have been my choice thats for sure. They now charge for telephone support and as far as i can see they do not allow you to connect 2 pc's at the same time on any accout except the premium one's.
