Bizzykidz is the leading agency and their kids get some fabulous jobs. I know this because my own is one of their models ;) It is incredibly tough though and lots of disapointment when castings don't go how you'd like them too or when your kid gets a great job but doesn't get a licence to work from the local authority . This has happened to us and we lost a T.V commercial because of it. Ho hum, just one of those things. HTH.

Tamlem. you may be a child psycologist but you can't wrap kids in cotton and kids gloves for all their lives. I hardly think that a 16 month child is going to be too concerned about their looks or time in front of a camera. A little bit of fame wont do them any harm. My son appeared in an Irn Bru ad many years ago when he was 9... No one forced him to do it and he was selected whilst at school. However, he remembers that occasion to this day with fondness. You need to keep a sense of proportion about these things and like anything else not take it to excess.

Any child would be too pleased to be told that they look good. It would reinforce their self-esteem and you don't need to be a child psychologist to know that. Where it goes wrong is when they are told that they need to be an unnatural size (zero) or that photoshopped images are the reality.

As for fees, my son was paid the grand sum of £50.00 towards his travel costs (we had to travel from Edinburgh to Glasgow).

As for the original poster, she should not bank on her child paying for resolving her immediate financial woes but if they were fortunate to make a tidy sum, she should invest 50% and charge the child for his board and upkeep and management fees to help pay the mortgage with the rest - nothing wrong with that. Better for the kid if the mortgage is paid and he has a roof over his head than if they are made homeless and he gets taken into care! But justremember every parent thinks their kids are gorgeous. Even if other people make comments to that effect it does not make the child photogenic or suitable for filming.

    FAO robt,

For heavens sake get a grip! i think that sort of comment says more about your moral standings than anyones.
The woman is talking about finding a way to help her family out of financial sticky patch. Are you saying that you open clothes magazines and instantly think, well they may as well all be prostitutes!!?

I think it sounds like a bit of an idealistic plan, to think that it could be that easy to get any substantial work out of it. But then i haven't seen just how lovely your little one is have i.
I'd say find a company that aren't going to make you pay out anything and give it a go. Good luck!

I looked into this as my daughter continually attracts comments and she did well in a couple of competitions (down to the last 10 to be on a Huggies nappy packet, and she did get onto one of their billboard posters).

The main thing that put me off was all the hanging around and the length of time it takes to get the perfect shot. My daughter has manic amounts of energy and won't sit still for 5 minutes, so I knew she just wouldn't sit in a pose for any length of time. She'd much rather be off running around and singing her head off :D
Here I go again on my own....

ohcrikey, I shall give you the benefit of the doubt as you are a newbie to MSE ;) You might want to look at the date of the posts in the thread before replying so vehemently, I doubt anybody is checking back for replies to a thread from 2008/09.
