My gf bought us a new bed on 2nd Nov from 'Discount furniture' on line. They took the payment out straight away and we waited the 20 odd days the site said it would take for delivery. After these 20 days and no word she e-mailed the comp. who said the bed was out of stock (thanks for informing us!) and could we pick another bed.
Not too happy with second choice, but picked one anyway and was told it would be in stock the week beginning 1st Dec, by 12th still no word so gf has been phoning up since, phone is just ringing, no answer.
Until yesterday when she was told the firm had gone into liquidation!
Can anyone help with the next step for getting her money back? She used a debit card so I know it's a long shot, but any advice?
Oh! And the company Didn't e-mail any payment confirmation, thou we do have a payment ref. number that the website gave us, and the e-mail correspondence telling us the bed we ordered was out of stock.
Thanks

If you paid by Credit Card and it was over £100, contact your card provider.
If not, I am afraid you are a creditor of the bed makers and ...0 -
If you bought using a VISA debit card you might be able to do a chargeback - Visa do offer this service, but it might not be straighforward

If it's a Maestro debit card then bad luck I'm afraid..."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0
