Options
Was wondering what other students do at weekends for fun when they're low on money. Don't even try and tell me your studying i don't want to hear it.

I play Frisbee, you need some room and a disc and you must know some one who has one.
  • Work
    Do reading for my course
Go hang about at a mate's house
    Play football/rugby in the park
    Window shop

There a loads of things to do for free or really cheap.
  • Just been to the cinema for free using my nectar points!
Sitting in a pub chatting - but only drink tap water, or cordial! Helps if you, on other occassions when you have money, drink something more expensive like beer, or the owners begin not to like you!

Spend my time on here... I'm cool.

Play CS with my hosuemates (we're all Computer Games Programmers so it helps we all have the same interests).

Football 3pm Sat its footy time when we're all listening to football games. Plus have updates on tele.

During the evening we watch a film or whatever, have movie runs, like Saw I, II, III and IV..... or Die Hard Trilogy hehe

watch tv.... go to a museum (only the ones with free entry).... go for a walk..... play sports.....

all the kind of things everyone with no money does.... it's even easier when you're a student as you have access to the SU and discounts!

  • Willowx - Sounds fun but i don't have much room inside and its too cold here to play frisbee outside.

The One Who - I SAID NO STUDING!!!and window shopping is just depressing. especially at christmas.

blue _Ashleigh - I like the pub idea. Thats what i do with friends when i have money. Cordial could get sickening. I may have to make moonshine to give it a kick.

Locolo - Computer Games sounds fun. I'm imagining a halo night(like in the big bang theory) except with no halo and call of duty 5 on ps3. thanks. I assume a few beers are involved?

melancholly - sorry but those suggestions are terrible. Watching tv is what i do all the time so i was hoping someone would suggest a change. museums are not fun, and walking can only be fun if its somewhere nice. I'm not somewhere nice.thanks for trying.

Seriously, you may not like it but being a student requires at least a bit of studying on occasion! I know my course was particularly hard and intense so required a lot of it, but if you can get away with none you really shouldn't be there.

As for my suggestions, how about sports? People-watching? (ok unless it's warm outside you'll want to go to a cafe, but one coffee isn't too expensive) Going to the library - free books and newspapers to read? Find a society to join... How about drama? If you're really bored, helping out in the community or on a volunteer scheme costs nothing and gives something back to local people...

Or for something exciting and warm that you'll never forget..... find a girlfriend.
  • when i was at uni (not that long ago) my flatmates and i used to get people around, bringing booze and food (hence we didnt have to supply) and have board game nights....very very funny. once the police were called.

other times we got really cheap bus tickets or train tickets ad went to random places just to waste a few hours, go take photos have a walk and just to have a pint in a random pub and tick it off the list. twas good!!

great ideas I really like the random places idea. I wanted to do this a while ago but my friends were a bit scared of wherer we'd end up.
