How do you celebrate New Year?!

Hi lovely folks on MSE!! I know it's a bit early to discuss this, but I wonder how you would celebrate New Year Eve/Day? Traditionally we go to our city centre for the count down of New Year which is very special I feel personally & we go for a nice walk on New Year's Day. But this year I want to do something different, more special & memorable, really celebrate it... Not really into drining & clubbing, live in Nottm... Any recommendations would be very welcomed, big cheers!

We often have fondue as a family. A couple of lovely seafood ones and then a big one of cheese with lots of chopped up chucks of bread! I like it much more than just having a meal together as it takes a while waiting for each bit of fish to cook, so everyone stays round the table for a couple of hours talking and drinking! Then by the time it's all over there isn't long to wait for midnight! Thanks to all those who post competitions! :T

We choose a different city in the UK, book a reasonable priced hotel, go for a meal and have a nice evening, just me OH and DD. then news years day is usually a swim/ sauna followed by a lovely cooked breakfast.
We have been doing this for about 4 years now and it works well for us, as in my younger
days i would just go out get drunk before midnight and miss all the fun at least now it means something

A bit cliched! We get very drunk in our house and have fizzy wine at midnight, watch Jools Holland and play singstar.0

After the manic family time, our son will be going out with his mates in town, so we have a nice meal, watch a movie, play music, then have bubbly at midnight. I tend to stay awake till 5am to see in the New York/EST new year:)An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

We'll be having a quiet one at my in-laws. When I was younger and stayed at home 'new year' was a huge occasion and we'd celebrate the bells at home then head to my uncles. On Jan 1st there would be about 20ish for traditional Scottish ne'erday dinner and the party would begin again..... and stop about the 4th!!!!Murphy's No More Pies Club Member No. 680
