hi,
im hoping the combined thinking power of people on this site will help me come up with a suitable 'board' game for my 3 nieces and nephew - who range from 11 - 14.
they really enjoy playing board games together and are always really appreciative of the ones i get them for xmas - trouble is this year i have run out of ideas : (
in the past i have got them cluedo, (what used to be called) haunted house, a describing word based game (articulate?) plus some others but now ive either used up all the ones i used to play as a child or i cant find them
any ideas gratefully received
thanks

How about Cranium. It is competitive, needs teams, and has modelling clay rounds, word game rounds, trivial info rounds and one other I can't remember. Or how about some packs of cards and a good card game book! Collins does a good one.
Hope this helpsTaking control, slowly.:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
pictionary we had this as a child and i thought it was hilarious, everyone gets involved too!!What's for you won't go past you0

Have they got Monopoly? That's the obvious one. The other one which older children often like is Risk, but it goes on for hours and hours and hours, and people can gang up on each other, which isn't always pretty.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I just got this for our family for christmas, and it is excellent. You get cluedo, Monopoly, chess, draughts, cards, cribbage and dominos. It's a lovely set too - suedette lined, all wooden casing, wooden boards, wooden houses for monopoly, nice pieces for Cluedo.....I was much impressed
It's the sort of thing that will last for many years. Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

We have one called Payday which I like as you can decide how many 'months' to play...
scrabble (classic game) has not yet been mentioned.
I bought DS Pass The Bomb last year and I love it....you have to develop tactics like considering when to challenge and. more importantantly, when NOT to.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

My bro LOVES monopoly but we realised that it was not a good idea when he was delighted when he beat his 5 year old son, this was after 3 hours (lol)
We had to ban it from xmas day cos it would last for hours and god forbid that we needed to go home because kids were tired or we were expecting guests etc.
We have got Monopoly this year as it will be the first xmas in ten years we can play because he wont be there. We will miss him of course (not) but you cant beat monopoly when the nutter isnt there (we love him but this one fault.....)0 -
Boku's fun too, but it's only for two players.
Monopoly's a firm favourite here also, along with scrabble and cleudo.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Tikal:
Tikal is a game of exploration within the Central American jungles in search of lost temples and the treasures within. Players send their team of explorers into the jungle, exposing more and more of the terrain. Along the way you find temples which require further uncovering and treasures. Players attempt to score points for occupying temples and holding onto treasure.
