There are loads of country parks in the area, Moses Gate near Bolton, Rivington Pike. Witton Country Park near Blackburn Burrs Country park in Bury all good for a days walk and they are free.
Loads of Free museums in Manchester but parking can be expensive, I remember that parking behind the boddingtons brewery in the pay and display zones is free at weekends, but that was a year or so ago when I last parked there.
I know you asked for vouchers and stuff but I couldnt find any.
When in Dublin transfer between the airport by taxi is about €17 you can catch the 747 bus for €5 each. Unfortunatly I cant tell you anywhere cheap to eat and drink as it is quite an expensive place to go but the Thunder road cafe on Fleet street in temple bar is pretty good and cheaper than the Hard rock cafe over the road0 -
my fella lives about 2 mins from burrs and i used to live near that too, i used to love that when i was little!

I agree with Little John about Dublin. Don't pay for the taxi into Dublin, get the 747 bus. Its a set price of 5 Euros and stops at all the major places. When you leave 'arrivals', the bus station is just outside and there is a bus every 5 - 10 minutes.
In Dublin, Temple bar is once of the cheapest areas to have a few beers. Try the more traditional pubs for cheaper drinks rather than the newer establishments and I thought the atmosphere was better in these places too.
Also, make some sandwiches or something for the journey home as the airport prices are stupid.
Also, for cheap days out, check eBay for vouchers of local places. You can somtimes pick them up for a pound or two. I took the kids to knowsley last year for £3 off eBay and a family ticket to camelot for £2. You might not fancy the family places but you should have some idea as to how cheap eBay can be for things like that.

ooh! i love the family places! i hold his coat while he goes on fast rides and he gets a bit bored on the slower ones and the ghost train with me! hehe! what a good tip, thanx! as long as no men in costumes get near me, they scare me to bloody death!
oh, and on another note, we decided to do another tour of the manchesr, science and industry and bury museums so cheers i havent been in a bit!
oh, and the tips for dublin are great- we're alos gonna do a feature in best magazine (fingers crossed, it depends wether they like the write-up i do but its what im doiugn at uni so...) to recoup some of our cash!

If you're travelling to Ireland and like visiting heritage-type places, then Irish Heritage sites seem to be much cheaper than the equivalent English and Scottish Heritage ones. Know it's not a freebie, but it might help. There are various websites you can look at; searching on 'Irish Heritage' ought to do it.A penny saved is a penny gained0
