is this any good?

i have just had 2 years of problems with my advent 7301 lap top from pc world. so was somewhat reluctant when i saw an advert just now on tv for an advent notebook £199 vat including from pc world. sorry if already paosted somewhere but couldnt find anything. do you think its any good????

    the machines you've linked are netbooks, small screen, small storage space (especially the acer @ 8gb running linux).

    yes i have read them but dont claim to be an expert or even someone who knows what they should be looking out for, which is why i have asked the opinion of others

    Well do you know what Linux is? If you do, have you used it?

    If you don't know what it is or don't want it that rules the second one out for starters.

    And first one, well 512mb ram running vista. If you want to play games on it its a nono, If you use it for internet browsing its pointless as you won't be able to read pages, same with word processing.

    All and all, if you're going to pick a laptop, don't just pick the cheapest, one of the worst ideas ever.
  • ah...in that case...I'd imagine neither of them is much use to you, though a trip to pcworld would make that plain as you saw the size of the screens on the devices.
    cheapest solution may be to explain the problems with the current lappy, it may be something simple
