Has anyone installed a Hydro Massage Thermostatic Steam & Shower Cabin/Room ?

Options
I was about to buy a shower / tray / screens / etc for a new en-suite I'm putting in at home when I noticed the shower steam room cabins in screwfix for £999. I've found another couple of suppliers on line (bathtek.com) - but I'm not sure how good they are. They look a bit gimmiky in some ways and I'm note sure what the workmanship or end product is like.

Has anyone got one? and if so are you pleased with it, any leaks? workmanship? etc. Would you buy it again - or go for the regular showers instead?

Any comments gratefully received.

Thanks

I've got one on order (coming this week). All I can say is that prices on the web vary enormously for similar spec cabins. When I went to see some locally the quality does tend to vary quite a bit. I ended up buying one locally for more than I would have paid on the net because I though it looked stronger and seems to have better quality materials than others I have seen (eg at B&Q and some other Bathroom outlets) - also got a 0% finance deal!
Unless you look at Brand names towards the top of the price range I found it's hard to know whether your comparing apples with apples - It's not like buying a Kenwood Chef! So I think looking at them is important.
What I'm hoping for is a steam and condensation free bathroom, as these are designed to keep steam in!

Just found this thread as I am after a steam/shower jobby myself - has anyone bought one recently and can advise on pos/negs?

I have seen a Bathtek super dee duper one in Costco :D and have also been looking online at The Shower Company, who look good.

Anyone had experience of either of these firms, or any others?

I'm after a unit with a little TV in it too (like the Bathtek one) - then I can lock myself away and catch up on the soaps or whatever, without interruption from anyone :D

    Any info most welcomed :)

Searching the web for reviews on Bathtek and found this old thread - has anyone out there bought a Bathtek product. I have just seen the their Torino steam shower in Costco for £1154 - it's £3000 on their website. this is a glass unit. I've also seen other Bathtek products which look a white acrylic interior but seem to do the same thing but a little cheaper.

Has anyone ever installed one of these products. Are they reliable? Am I asking for trouble and should i just get a straightforward shower and enclosure?

I'd be really grateful for any help.

    thanks

  • I would think it the same as installing a normal bath or shower if there is only one or two places to connect to the mains water supply. I would suggest using plastic piping and connectors as it is so much easier than copper and just as reliable if used correctly, you can even bend it slightly if you first warm the piping up.
