rbs sharesave 08/09

Any rbs staff got any info on the sharesave 08/09 just launched- worth a go? :confused:

    its 20% discount on average closing share price on 17th/18th/19th december (will be confirmed on 22nd) i will probably pay into it, its not like you buy the shares until the end of the 3/5/7yr term, so you can always have your cash back if you dont want to buy the shares

    given the fact that the highest closing share price the last few days has been around 49.5P, then 20% off that, likely that as the market recovers hopefully at the end of the term they will be worth buying at the fixed option price, if not then you pull the money back without buying them and get the bonus. (or if you close before end of the term if you have been paying in for more than 12 months, then you get 2% interest)

    I think the bonus rate on a 3 year sharesave is 4.2%aer tax free.

    So even if your shares don't do the business, the savings return is pretty good in today's climate.

    Pile in what you can safely afford - the big decision comes in 3/5/7 years time.

    i have too, looking at the computershare site the option price will be 38pence! will await for official confirmation on that though

    yes or like in my case work for a company owned by the rbs group. its a staff share save scheme they have been running for years
